Projects in Cameroon
Centre for Youth and Sustainable Development (CYSD) is a community-based organization in Cameroon dedicated to addressing the high secondary school dropout rates among young boys and girls in remote communities in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. This troubling trend has resulted in increased instances of early pregnancy and childbirth among teenage girls, gender-based violence, and a higher susceptibility to drug abuse among young males.
To tackle these issues, CYSD launched its Reading Proficiency Program and established Wisdom Community Primary School. These initiatives aim to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged children who were unable to attend school from 2016 to 2019 due to the ongoing socio-political crisis in the English-speaking region of Cameroon. Through these efforts, CYSD strives to restore educational access and improve the overall well-being of the community's youth.
CYSD operates and runs programs ranging from Education, Child Protection Democracy & Governance, Clean Water, Community Health, and Sustainable Agriculture.
We support the Wisdom Community Primary School with funds to purchase educational materials and teacher salaries. The school is an initiative of the Centre for Youth and Sustainable Development.
